I think the general public knows very little about the real Marilyn Monroe. The "persona" that she created is far different than the actual lady, and most people think she acted like her dumb blonde roles. She was incredibly intelligent, an avid reader of philosophy, and towards the end of her life was becoming involved with several human rights groups. She was one of the first stars of her time to lift weights, and really be into healthy living. Many people also don't know that she was one of the first "triple threats"--she was amazing with singing, dancing, and acting. There are so many facets of her personality that I think people would be fascinated to know, but the media always wants to only focus on her singing happy birthday to the president, and her death.
